Obituary of Ron Rasmussen
Ron Rasmussen passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Ron was a life-long union activist, and was the former President of the Portland, OR APWU Local from 1980 until his election in 1985 as National Business Agent for the Western Region APWU which position he held until his retirement in 1995. Ron’s other life-long passion was fishing, and after his retirement, Ron owned and operated his own charter and commercial fishing business. Because of his love for the ocean, Ron requested a private family cremation and to have his ashes scattered over the Pacific Ocean. Ron is survived by his wife, Gale; three sons, Ed, Randy and Bill; four grandchildren; and step-brother, Jim.
Ron did not have any favorite charities, but he loved his dog Mako dearly, who he rescued from a shelter, as well as his previous dog. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society or to the ASPCA. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Gale Rasmussen and family through Crown Memorial Center in Portland.
