Whenever Grandma came to my home she would always grab my hand and then hug me and say the same thing "You have such a lovely family." It meant the world to me! A complement every Mom wants to hear.
What I admired most about Wanda was how often I would hear her grandaughters and family say "Grandma won't like that." It was sometimes with a giggle, yet always came from a place of honor and reverence for her. A sense of appreciation for her wisdom and the solid lines she drew for how to walk out her integrity, story and legacy. She was never shy to share her beliefs of right and wrong, good or evil. These were from hard earned sets of experiences and her dedicated faith. We all need people in our life that tell us directly and consistently what their life has taught them will and won't work, it's one of my favorite things about my own Father. I really admire it in Wanda. "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." Hebrews 12:11 -
Wanda, Thank you for being genuinely you and giving your family many many years of training in how to truly live and love well. I'm thankful I got to be a part of a decade of it and so admire the way Steve, Ellen, Mindy, Travis and Megan stood with you and next to you in your last days in your earthly vessel.
"O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, will not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come." Psalm 71:17-18

We met Wanda over 10 years ago when our son, Travis, married her granddaughter, Mindy. Since that time we have had many memorable family celebrations together. The most special one of all was the trip we all took to Ireland for their wedding. Nothing could light up Wanda’s face more than seeing one of her granddaughters enter the room. Later that also became true of her two great- grandsons, Liam and Kellan. She loved to watch them and all the activity that always surrounded them. And she totally loved to spoil them. She made some amazing quilts for not only her family but for our extended family members also. We will miss her kind smile and the twinkle she always had in her eyes when family was near.
