Obituary of Gary Norlander
On Wednesday March 4, 2020 Gary Norlander loving husband, father, brother, son and friend passed away at the age of 50 as a result of Colon Cancer.
Gary was born on August 16, 1969 to Tom and Becky Norlander in Portland OR. Most of his career he spent as a Journeyman Bricklayer with BAC Local 1. In more recent years Gary was a stay at home dad.
In 1997 he married Dona, in 2006 their son Reed was born.
Gary enjoyed his time in Cub Scouts also encouraging his son Reed to do the same. Gary was a Pack leader for a short time.
Most of his youth was centered around wresting - he made lasting friendships from that time.
Gary had a passion for everything outdoors ~ camping (he was a great camper!)”, fishing, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, hunting for mushrooms, and gardening. He also loved a good music festival. Gary enjoyed recounting stories about his experiences as much as he enjoyed doing them.
Gary was a great lover of animals, he never met a dog or cat that didn’t take to him instantly. He would have brought home every stray if his wife would have let him.
Gary was survived by his father Tom, mother Becky, wife Dona, son Reed, Sister Kristin (her husband Tyler), many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews as well as sisters and brothers-in-law.
If you would like to make any donations in Gary’s honor please consider: Providence Hospice and Oregon Humane Society.
We will be holding a Memorial/Celebration of Life at Gary & Dona’s home in Woodstock (Portland). Date/time to follow given current concerns with the Corona Virus.
