Gary was one of my best childhood friends. I had not seen him in a lot of years. I think fondly of those great times we had riding bikes to skate world, fishing out at Sauvie's Island and just goofing around. Gary was always looking for the next laugh and it was contagious. He always put a smile on my face. I am sorry I lost contact with him over the last few years. I have no doubt he was a great father and husband. Gonna miss you buddy...

Gary was my best friend in college at Southern Oregon ...we both lived in the dorms as we started our freshman year!! He and his buddy Chris Lousche ..they were like the odd couple !! Both so dang funny and always pranking each other and play fighting (wrestling )! We became fast friends and hung out together whenever we weren’t in school. He was a special guy with amazing charisma and the best ever laugh !!! I’ll never forget his smile and his laugh ( forever embedded in my mind.) we played tennis together a lot , went on tons of mountain bike rides, camping and loads of other adventures. I want to send my condolences to his entire family and say what an honor it was to know and have loved Gary like a brother. Even though we never saw each other after college he was and always will be in my thoughts. I was looking forward to reconnecting with Gary and had just found him on Facebook in February of this year...I was and still am devastated to hear of his untimely passing. He was a very special person and will never be forgotten. Thanks for all the laughs and good times good buddy . See you on the other side , brother.

I worked with Gary at Bratton masonry in the early 2000’s. Gary was the type of guy who always had a big smile on his face that would light up the entire jobsite. No matter how tough the job was Gary was always up to the task. His smile and laugh will be missed by many. He was truly one of a kind.

I met Dona and Gary when I first started dating my husband Mat Sprague around 2002. He was an old wrestling buddy of Mat’s from childhood. We instantly became fast couple friends . We had matching Lhasa apsos, Millie and Willie, he was one of Mat’s groomsman, we had our babies close together, we have probably spent every holiday together at some point during our lives. We camped from the very beginning and Gary knew how to do it all. He had everything you ever needed or wanted or didn’t even know you needed or wanted. I loved camping with Gary because he always took care of everything. It was the one time I could actually relax camping. We sat around so many fires together, had so many laughs and amazing times. He is one of our dearest friends and will miss him so much. RIP Goofy Gary!❤️

I remember meeting Gary when we moved to Tolman St. He was just so warm and welcoming. He was always ready to swap stories with a smile. He was the kind of guy who knew how to do everything and he never minded walking you through the process. He had a great laugh. He was strong, yet gentle. He was the kind of Teletubby you did not want to mess with. We’re so grateful for all the laughs you shared with us Gary.

I Loved learning from Gary in High School, I was his practice buddy on the wrestling mat for years. It always amazed me how strong he was, and he looked like a beam pole, crazy. But while wrestling, he would NOT give up, and believe me, nor would I. Yeah, and a riding buddy as well, I remember he was going to the World's Record in the longest Tricycle Jump and or it was the Highest or something like that, and I think he got it. I remember his handle bars went through his ribs one time, that was crazy. I thought to myself, I finally found someone as crazy as me on a bike. That's all we did back in the day--Bikes, and making jumps. I believe he inspired me to jump 25 ft. one time--dang. Anyway, I was friends with him on Facebook and started to recently connect with him again, yeah I'll miss him and I'm sure others around him as well. Yeah it sucks. But, hey, I'm thankful I got the chance to wrestle and ride bikes and train with Gary. I'm a better athlete today because of the friends like him I hung out with in my childhood.
Gary was a great Father as I heard and turned out to be a Great Husband. Just remember these words, and this goes for anyone that has passed. You'll get to see Gary again at the Return of Christ. God Bless
