Obituary of John Wurth Walker

Gladstone resident, John Wurth Walker passed away of natural causes on March 19, 2012 at his home. On July 2, 1941, John was born in Chico, California to James and Helen Walker. He was raised in Sunnyside, Washington and was salutatorian of his graduating class at Sunnyside High School. He ran high school track and was awarded with several Washington State track records. Following school, John joined the United States Army National Guard and the Army Reserves. He loved music and concerts and was a band drum major during his time with the Guard. John worked as a surveyor for the City of Portland for many years and then drove truck until retirement. Particularly in his retirement, John loved working on his collection of Datsun Z cars. John is survived by his son, Brian Walker of Sandy; daughter, Heather Allison (Walker) of Tigard and husband Carey; brother Victor Walker of Walla Walla, Washington and wife Dolores; sister, Sharon Walker of Hillsboro; sister-in-law Joanne Walker of Hillsboro, predeceased by husband Daniel Walker; 2 grandchildren, Joshua and Ryan Allison of Tigard. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Walker and brother, Daniel Walker. No formal services are planned at this time.
