Obituary of T Dani Adams

T Dani Adams, a resident of Salem, Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, March 20 at 3:30pm, aged 77 years old. Tjitske Dani was born on February 20, 1935 in Indonesia. Her parents were Hidde Jelle and Evertine Noppen, and she had an older brother, Jury. She graduated from Het Nederlands Lyceum, The Netherlands, in 1953. She received her degree from the John Radcliffe School of Nursing, now part of Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals, UK, in 1960, and was certified by the United Kingdom Central Midwives Board in 1961. She was a resident of Indonesia, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, Peru, Australia, and the United States residing in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Oregon. Dani became a US citizen in 1976 and she practiced as a midwife from 1976 to 1991. She was certified by the Oregon Midwifery Council in 1983, and she worked with over 250 clients in the home birth setting. She joined the US Peace Corps, serving in Paraguay in 1992 and 1993. She lived her days in retirement traveling, remodeling her house, doing countless creative projects, and building community with numerous friends. She is survived by her children, Sonja and Paul. There will be an informal celebration of her life at her residence from 3-9pm on Sunday, March 25. In Dani’s words, “Enough is as good as a feast.” Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center - Salem.
