Obituary of Rita Mae Lucas

Rita Mae (Worzella) Lucas was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Leo and Lillian Worzella on May 12, 1927, the eldest of 12 children. Rita was raised in Wisconsin and worked for a short time in her father’s retail establishment in Central Wisconsin. She married Leonard Francis Lucas on October 15, 1949 at St. Mary’s Church in Custer, Wisconsin and together they had 2 children; Jeffrey Allen and Terri Lynn. In the early 1950’s Rita and Len moved to Oregon so Len could explore opportunities in the construction trade and Rita could be a stay at home mother. They settled in Gladstone, Oregon to raise their family and then, after the children were raised, they moved to Oregon City in 1977. Rita was a member of her catholic church and enjoyed volunteer work at county elections office. Rita and Len enjoyed taking short trips to Spirit Mountain in their time of retirement. Rita passed away in Oregon City, Oregon on March 12, 2012 from complications of diabetes and heart failure at the age of 84. She is survived by her daughter Terri Lynn Hill and her significant other Rodney Goulart of Oregon City, Oregon; her grandson Michael Christopher Lucas and his wife Celeste of Portland, Oregon and her 9 remaining siblings. She is preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Allen Lucas who passed away July 14, 2001 and her husband Leonard Francis Lucas who passed on March 28, 2008. There are no services planned.
