Obituary of Donald Anton Bozich

With family by his side Don, 82, passed away March 9, 2012 from cancer. He joins his beloved wife, Barbara, who preceded him in death in 2002. Don was born January 4, 1930 in Portland, OR to Anton and Elizabeth (Bassanich) Bozich, immigrants of Croatian and Italian ancestry. He graduated from Benson High School. Don proudly served his country in Korea being awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge 1st Award and Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star attachment. He was a retired longshoreman and diehard union man. Don mastered golf as a teenager and continued his passion for the sport throughout adulthood. He is survived by his daughter Debbie Garlington, son-in-law Bill, grandsons Jeff and David Garlington. Son Don Jr., daughter-in-law Claudia and grandchildren Nick, Derek, Olivia, and Jackson Bozich. Brothers Phil (Gloria) and Dick (Janeen). His family thanks the staff at Van Mall Retirement Community for their support, care and compassion for Don during his final days. At Don’s request no service will be held.
