Obituary of Richard M. Thomas

Richard M. Thomas Richard ‘Dick’ Thomas was born in Tillamook and spent the first half of his life in and around All Saints Parish and the Laurelhurst area, graduating from All Saints Elementary and Central Catholic. He loved kids and sports and kept busy with high school basketball and coaching the All Saints CYO teams. At the end of his Army tour, he returned to fast pitch softball, golf, fishing and getting his degree from the University of Portland. In 1966, he began his career in Business Administration at Marylhurst College, where he worked for seven years as Business Manager and Development Director. The next twenty-one years were spent in the Lake Oswego School system as Director of Business Affairs and Assistant Superintendent. He retired in 1994. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Thomas; four children, Theresa Thomas, Richard Thomas, Elizabeth Wilkening and Scott Thomas; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Arlene Egger and Rita Thomas. His brother, William Thomas, preceded him in death. A Memorial Mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Portland on March 16th at 1:00pm.
