Timothy Doolan

Obituary of Timothy James Doolan

Timothy was born at Willamette Falls Hospital in Oregon City. He went to Troutdale Elementary, Reynolds High School, and was Math Student of the Year in 2000. He went on to attend University of Oregon and graduated with a BS in Math. He was in the last stages of finishing his Masters in Teaching Arts at Portland State University. Although Tim never married, in his heart he was married to Emily Jasperson who was his partner in everything these last seven years. He was happiest while working outdoors with youth through the YMCA Camp Collins. He taught snowboarding to youth at Mt Hood Ski Bowl and was a lift operator at Hoodoo. He also worked with disabled kids through the Multnomah County ESD, and more recently, he started Hyperion Chairs, a new woodworking business, where he used his love of math and wood to create furniture. His master’s thesis, “How Origami Saved the World,” was about teaching many kinds of math through the art of folding. Tim loved to be outdoors. He gardened, created intricate garden trellis’, and pruned his bushes to smile at passerby’s. He loved snowboarding, camping, hiking, music, and philosophizing.
