Obituary of Grace Elizabeth Games

Grace was born in Lisbon, Ohio to Robert and Margaret Little. She was the fourth of five children. When she was young her family moved from Ohio to California, and then in 1941 on to Oregon where she attended grade school and Roosevelt High School from 1944 to 1947. Her family moved to Waldport where she graduated from Waldport High School in 1948. She began working in movie theaters in Portland, where she met Roy, who became her husband of 57 years. The young couple were married in Vancouver, Washington on July 31st, 1950, and went on to have one daughter, Sharon. A working mother, she continued her career with the City of Portland in the box office at the Performing Arts Center until she retired in 1992. Grace and Roy lived in the Portland area for many years until they moved to Hope Village Retirement Community in Canby, OR in 2002. She became involved with quilting and Friday night pinochle. Her other interests included reading, crocheting, and traveling. She and Roy took many road trips, and were known for their long drives, many of which resulted in a phone call to their daughter, asking her to take care of their animals because they went “…a little too far and weren’t going to be home until the next day or so.” Grace had an extra travel bag packed in the trunk of their car, ready to go at all times. She and Roy loved the Oregon coast, and any place that had to do with the history of the American West. She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Chuck) Gilles of Aurora, OR. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roy and by her sisters Agnes Beck & Catherine Tiber and brother Robert Little. Everyone is welcome to join in a Celebration of Life for Grace from 1:00 to 3:00 on Thursday, October 13th, 2011 at the Hope Village Community Center, 1535 S. Ivy in Canby, OR. A lunch will be served. Please come and share your memories and stories. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center - Tualatin
