Obituary of Mary Lou Pollock
Mary Lou “Polly” Pollock, 76, of Portland, OR, died Saturday, July 15, 2011, in her home.
She was born on May 18, 1935, in McKeesport, PA. She was the daughter of Raymond M. Pollock, Sr. and Grace Evelyn (Leukhardt) Pollock of Wilmerding, PA. She is survived by her brother, Raymond M. Pollock, Jr., of Fredericksburg, VA, and his wife, Kay. She is also survived by three nephews and their children: Kenneth R. Pollock of Pacific Grove, CA, his wife, Heidi, and son, Kevin; Andrew M. Pollock of Virginia Beach, VA, his wife, Marianna, and their two sons, Alexander and Spencer; and James Katz Pollock of Portland, OR, his wife, Alicia, and their two children Isayha and Grace.
Mary Lou grew up in Wilmerding, PA, and received a nursing degree from Allegheny General Hospital, in Pittsburgh, PA in the late 1950’s.
She and several other nurses moved to Portland, OR, in the early 1960’s. She worked as an ICU nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland for many years before her retirement in 1997. At the time of her death, she was a volunteer for the Hollywood Senior Center, having managed the Center’s Thrift Shop and assisted running the Monthly Pancake Breakfast for several years prior to her death.
