Obituary of Marjorie Mae Wheelon

Marjorie Wheelon passed away on July 12, 2011 in Beaverton, Oregon. Marjorie was born on a homestead in Bend, Oregon on October 24, 1915 to Ada and Robert Hopkins. In 1917 Marjorie moved to Newberg, Oregon where her brother Glenn Hopkins was born. Marjorie started school in Lake Oswego and then moved to Portland where she attended Woodmere Grade School and Franklin High School. She married Lorne Wheelon in 1936. Three children were born of this marriage: Shirley Murphy, Robert Wheelon and Byron Wheelon. After raising her children, Marjorie went back to school to continue her education at Northwest School of Business and worked in the Mayor’s office in Portland, which she found to be very interesting. She also worked in the traffic Dept. at Montgomery Wards and Tektronics in Beaverton. Tektronics was near her home in Beaverton, where she lived for forty-two years. Marjorie moved to Creekside Village Retirement Residence in 2003. She enjoyed her many friends there, and all the activities. Her favorite hobby was playing bridge, and for many years was active in the various bridge groups in Beaverton. Marjorie will be remembered for her sunny attitude, the smile on her face and her laughter, which she managed every day. She is survived by her 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren & 5 great-great grandchildren. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center – Tualatin.
