Obituary of Barbara Lorraine Beggs-Osborne
Barbara was born to Myrtle Herbes and James E Beggs in Vancouver, WA. Parents moved to Portland (Kenton) in 1934. She attended Holy Cross grade school for 4 years then 4 years at Holy Rosary, graduating in 1947. She attended Jefferson High School. After graduation she went to Beauty School in the Morgan Building.
After finishing Beauty School she married Byron Wright in 1952. They had 4 children (Teresa, Trent, Tami, and Tom). Barbara had Blue Bird Beauty Salon in Montavilla for 10 years.
In 1970, she married Robert Hickey and had one son, Carlos. She worked at Sears in personnel and furniture sales. Then she worked for Wards selling carpets and custom draperies. In 1981 she was a cook on the Pilot 11, sailing to Wake Island for reconstruction of the airfield with Capt. Robert Osborne. They married and lived in Rockaway Beach for 10 years till his death in 1991.
The rest of her days in Portland were spent living close to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, baking and time at the beach. Barbara loved her writing and genealogy class and her luncheons with friends.
Barbara is survived by: Teresa Meyers, her husband Jeff, their son; Nathan, their daughter Jill with her little angel; Claire, Trent Wright; Tami Wright and her son Jay(Michelle), Destiny& Jessie, son Michael – Michael & Trill; Tom Wright (Dee) 4 boys – Tom, Jr. (Sarah) w/son Hayden (2 step), Tim, Ted, and Tyler; (Julie) 6 stepchildren, 1 grandchild; Carlos Hickey and his wife Paige, their son Alex, 2 step, daughter Tara w/son Justin; and nephews, Greg and Larry Finel. She is also survived by many of her dear and beloved friends.
A rosary will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 11 am followed by an 11:30 am funeral mass at Holy Rosary Church located at 375 NE Clackamas Street in NE Portland, 503-235-3163.
