Obituary of Sarah Lee Chiavarini

Sarah Lee Chiavarini was born on September 28, 1918 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of George and Mayme McVey. She married Louis Chiavarini on December 7, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri just before his leaving for Army service during WWII. Upon his return two years later, they moved to Detroit, Michigan where they lived until 1987 when they moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia. Last year she moved to Portland, Oregon to be closer to family. She died on June 29, 2011 at 92 years of age. She is predeceased by her three older sisters, Marguerite Lewis, Vivian Reed, and Dorthea Ellington. She is survived by her children, Robert (wife Denni) and Betty Chiavarini; grandchildren Clinton Chiavarini (wife Andrea) and Katherine Bergmans (husband Christian); and great-grandchildren Dax and Ivy Chiavarini and Cameron Bergmans. Sarah was a warm, giving person who always thought of others first. Though freely helping any in need, she oftentimes had difficulty asking for help for herself. She always had a good sense of humor, even up to the last, and always found a smile for everyone even when in pain. She was a stunning beauty in her youth and more importantly, had a beautiful character throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by her family and those few remaining friends that have survived her. A private memorial will be held at a future date and she will be buried in Little Rock, Arkansas next to her husband of 47 years. We all love you. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center - Tualatin
