Obituary of Era Edna Short Sigman

Era Edna Sigman, 90, passed away on June 26, 2011 at her home in Sherwood. Era was the youngest daughter of Floyd and Annie Short, born in Lucky, Arkansas on December 20, 1920. She was raised in Glenwood, Arkansas and on July 16, 1937 she married Cecil J. Sigman in Glenwood. Era became a devoted mother and homemaker and had worked the Ship Yards during WWII. In 1951, Era and Cecil moved to Springfield, Oregon. Era began working at the Cannery and retired after more than 20 years. Aside from her hard work, Era enjoyed many crafts, crocheting, quilt work by hand, sewing and beautiful beadwork. Some of her beadwork included doilies, Christmas ornaments and enough beaded Christmas lights to cover a large tree. After retiring, she spent a lot of time fishing with her husband. After 63 years of marriage, Cecil passed away on December 12, 2000. Era was a member of the Springfield/Trinity Baptist Church. After her move to live with her daughter in 2000, she became a member of the Sherwood/Timberline Baptist Church. Era is surived by her son Gerald Sigman and his wife Glenna of Emmett, Idaho; daughter Joyce Schaefer and her husband Ronald George of Sherwood; granddaughter Marianne Shaffer and husband Matt of Nampa; grandson Greg Sigman and wife Keri of Caldwell, Idaho; and 8 great-grandchildren. “We Miss you and are so thankful for your 90+ years!” A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Mt.
