Obituary of Emery J. Huschka

December 25, 1930-June 11, 2011 Beloved father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, Emery, passed away on June 11th in Milwaukie, Oregon. He was born on December 25, 1930 in Bismarck, North Dakota. He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Elliott and her husband, Cal, sons Kent and his wife, Barbara, Hal and Loanne, Rod and Karen and his sister Virginia Van Dyke and her husband, Ralph; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Yvonne in June 2009. Emery served in the Air Force after high school and then graduated from Pacific University with a Bachelor of Science in 1960 and a Masters of Education in 1966. He received a Doctor of Education in 1977 from Nova University in Florida. He worked as a teacher in the Nappa-Swenson School District (near Astoria) and then as a teacher and assistant principal at Seaside High School, moving to Milwaukie High School to become a counselor. Emery then became assistant principal and later principal of Rex Putnam High School for many years until his retirement in the late 1970’s. A celebration of life will be held at the Lighthouse Mission Church at 337 NE 47th Ave. in Portland on Friday, June 24th at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Emery Huschka Scholarship Fund for Rex Putnam High School at any Wells Fargo bank branch.
