Obituary of Timothy W. Read
Timothy W. Read, 64, died May 27. Survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Trina, daughter Joann, son-in-law Aerik, beloved grandsons Elijah & Benjamin, two sisters Pat Allgrove & Kay Bejarana, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceeded in death by his parents Bill and Lois Read, and two brothers Ronald and Dennis. Tim was born and raised in Santa Cruz, CA. Tim graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1965 and enlisted in the U.S. Army. Tim did a tour in Vietnam in 1968-1969 and was decorated with medals and awards for National Defense Service, Vietnam Service with 4 Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign, and Marksman (rifle). During that time he met Trina, who was his pen-pal during the war, and the love of his life. After the war, Tim and Trina married and started their life together. In 1972, Tim started work at the San Jose Mercury News and after 32 years he retired with Trina to Salem, Oregon in 2004. Tim loved camping in the redwoods, was quite the war history buff, was a putterer "from way back", and enjoyed his family immensely. Tim had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed nothing more than laughing at his own jokes. You went too soon and we miss you. Loving husband. Loving dad. Loving grandpa. Loving friend. Friends and family are invited to join us in remembering Tim at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Chapel of Roses at 5pm, Friday June 10 at 300 Curtner Avenue in San Jose, (408) 297-2447 Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center - Salem.
