Obituary of John Berry Powelson
On March 24th, 2011 John Berry Powelson passed away peace-fully with his wife and family at his side. John was born on September 30, 1930 in Wilmington, California. After high school he attended Orange Coast College until enlisting in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. In 1966 John started Aquatic Sports in Portland where he shared his passion for SCUBA with many others. John is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Alvina; children, Barry Powelson, Linda Ross, Sara Hill, Sherry Churchill, Michael Powelson, Zoe Rindel, Jeff Powelson and Cindy Powelson; 10 grand-children; and eight great-grand-children. A Celebration of Life for John was held at Gotham Tavern in April of 2011. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center - Tualatin.
