Obituary of Lola May Zentner

7/10/19 – 10/29/10 Lola was born in San Francisco, CA and raised in Sacramento. CA. She had one younger brother, Thomas Purvis, U.S. Navy, who was killed in WWII. Lola finished junior college in Sacramento and was headed to Stanford University to study nursing when she met John Zentner at a dance while working at a summer job in Yosemite. They married in 1938. Together, they lived through WWII (Dad served in the U.S. Army Air Force). She was by Dad’s side through his long career with the Federal Aviation Agency. His work and military service took them to New Mexico, Kansas, Colorado, and then back to California. They owned a couple of planes in their early years and flew together. They moved to the Plaza in Portland, OR in 2007 from their home o f 40 years in Belmont, CA. John died March of 2009. Their three children are daughters; Sarah Friedel & Christy Wilson-Calderon, son Johnny Zentner and his wife Cindy, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She did not work outside the home during her marriage. She kept a pleasant home and put three delicious meals on the table every day. She and John built homes in Grand Junction, CO, Denver, Fresno, CA, and Belmont, CA. Lola picked out a lot of floor materials, paint colors, tile window coverings and carpets over the years. In Colorado and California, Lola and John like to ten-camp with their family, including Lola’s parents. John would catch trout and Lola would fry them up. After his retirement they took motor trips in their “camper”. They also traveled to Russia, Israel and China, as well as Hawaii and Mexico. Private services will be held. Lola knew she was deeply loved and she will be missed.
