Obituary of Edward Alvis Leonard
Edward Leonard August 8, 1920 – May 31, 2009 Tualatin resident, Edward Alvis Leonard, 88, died on May 31, 2009. Edward was born on August 8, 1920 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was raised in Minneapolis and joined the Navy out of high school. In 1943, Edward received an honorable discharge from the Navy and joined the Army Air Corps. During WWII, he was a First Lieutenant and flew as a Navigator and Bombardier in missions over the Pacific and North Korea. Edward received many medals and other decorations during his service. After being honorably discharged from the Air Corps, Edward moved to Spokane, WA, with his wife, Lorraine Lund, whom he had married in 1947. In 1960, the couple divorced and Edward moved to Portland, Oregon. Edward married Patricia Ann Rayburn in 1972 in Portland, and the couple settled in Tualatin, Oregon in the late 1970’s. A few of Edward’s hobbies include Golf, Sports, Eating Out at various restaurants and walking his dogs. He was a member of the Tualatin County Club. Edward is survived by his son and caretaker, Michael Leonard and his wife Gayle, two grandsons, Arron and Alexander, and stepdaughter Jennifer Murdoch.
