Obituary of Victor Kuss

Sept. 5, 1938 – Oct. 28, 2010 Victor Kussed passed away October 28, 2010, in his home, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was 72 years old. He was born Victor Michael Kuss on September 5, 1938 in Strasburg, N.D., to Frank and Martina Kuss. He was the second of seven children. Victor spent his childhood and all of his school years in Strasburg where he graduated from Strasburg High School in 1956. After graduating from high school he enlisted and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis Army Base in Tacoma, WA. Victor married Diane Huppert on December 28, 1963, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Portland, OR. They made their home in Portland, where they raised their four children; Victor, Paul, Tina, and Mark. Victor retired from Tri-Met in 1999, where he spent 35 years as a bus driver. He spent his retirement years visiting with family and friends, traveling, gardening, fishing, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was a member of St. Charles and St. Rita Catholic Communities. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Victor is preceded in death by both parents, brothers Florian Kuss and Charles Kuss, daughter in law Liza Lujan Kuss, and his beloved wife of 45 years, Diane Kuss. Survivors include his daughter; Tina Baertlein and husband Rick, of Brush Prairie, WA, sons: Vic and wife Tina of Portland, Paul and wife Trang of Tenino, WA, Mark of Camas, WA, dear friend and companion, Carol Hernandez, and his beloved grandkids: CJ, Victor, Larry, Ricky, Jennifer, Franklin, Rebecca, Katie, James, Sirena, and miracle girl, Isabella. Survivors also include brothers; Frank Kuss of Minnesota, Art Kuss of California, and sisters; Rose Scott of Oklahoma, and Betty Schumacher of North Dakota. Recitation of the Rosary will be on Sunday, Novemeber 7, 2010 and 6:00 pm at St. Rita Catholic Church, 102nd Avenue and Prescott Street. A reception will immediately follow in the church hall. Private committal service will be held at a later date.
