Ahti A. Korkeakoski September 12, 1938 ~ September 18, 2009 TURNER ~ Ahti fought a brave battle with prostate cancer with his Finnish Sisu. Ahti was born in Haapajarvi, Finland and moved to the US with his family in 1957. He was a general contractor until his retirement. He has won many Cross Country Ski Races. He helped start the Woodburn Park and Recreation youth soccer program. He also had his own men's soccer team in Canby for many years. Ahti loved racing. He raced his #14 Stock Car around the northwest in the 60s and 70s. Nascar races in Phoenix was a yearly trip. his hunting trips with his sons and friends were very special as were camping trips to the beach with friends. Ahti and Linda (VanOsdol) were married in 1964. They have three sons, Ahti Jr., Esa (Nicole), and Antti, all of Turner; Grandchildren, Sacha, Esa Jr., Leena, Erikka, Kai; brother, Timo (Patricia) of Woodburn; sisters, Irene of Woodburn, Elvi (Jim) Stewart of Pinehurst, Idaho, Pirkko Korkeakoski of Salem; Mother-in-Law Alice Lambert; many nieces and nephews and cousins in Finland; God Son Chrisptopher Kilmurray; and his beloved dog Roxy. Ahti was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Tyyne. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., October 10, 2009 at Turner Community Hall. Arrangements entrusted to Crown memorial Center Salem.
