Obituary of Rolanda Joyce Barnett
Rolanda, aka Mother Rolanda-Granny, passed away on Oct. 9, 2010 at the age of 76. She was the daughter of Albert and Cornell Heard, born May 13, 1934 in Los Angeles, California. She met and married Robert L. Barnett in April 1971 and together they moved to Keizer, Oregon to enjoy retirement in 1993. Rolanda worked as a custodian, Pediatric Nurse, Payroll Clerk and Permit Technician over the years. She enjoyed reading, fishing, bowling, crocheting, knitting, cooking, listening to music, and watching westerns. She was an active member of Pauline Memorial A.M.E Zion Church and assisted at the Marion County Food Bank. Rolanda was preceded in death by her parents and sister Elgilena Heard. She is survived by her husband of 39 years Robert L. Barnett; daughters Tina M. Mimms, Yvonne A. Mimms, and Jacqueline (Capice) Simms of Los Angeles, CA; brother Albert (Mary) Heard and niece Lisa C. Heard-Goines of Cincinnati, OH; granddaughters Robin and Jennifer Mimms of Keizer, OR; and grandsons Julius Roberts, Christopher Coleman, Marcus Simms and Brandon Simms of Los Angeles, CA. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, October 15, 2010 at Pauline Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 3593 Sunnyview Rd NE, Salem.
