Obituary of Vida Janet Jacobs
Vida Janet (Gering) Jacobs, 90, Passed away on May 6, 2009 In Canby, Oregon. She was born on Jan. 13, 1919, in Scottsbluff, Neb., and graduated from Gering High School in 1937. She and her husband, Dale, were married Dec. 24, 1939, and remained loyal and loving mates to the end. She is survived by her husband, Dale; three caring children, Toni Clay of Portland, Stephen Jacobs of Beavercreek and Jeffrey Jacobs of Portland; seven grandchildren, Carin Henderson of Vancouver, Donald Scheidel of Boston, Jill Tonkon of Aurora, Scott Jacobs of Oregon City, Julie Jacobs of Beavercreek, Hayley Jacobs of Salem and Laura Jacobs McKniff of Portland; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Della Sylvestor, of Danville, Calif. Vida's entire family deeply loved, understood and was devoted to her. As a talented wife, homemaker and advisor, she was exceptional. In addition to being a wife and mother, her artistic talents led her to such hobbies as flower arranging, jewelry, macrame and tile design. She loved golf and especially playing bridge in her later years. She worked as a green lady with Billie Gross at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland and later founded and started the ladies auxiliary at the Willamette Falls Hospital in Oregon City. She and her husband moved to Portland in 1942, moved to Oregon City in 1949, and to Charbonneau in 1973, where she became active in golf and various ladies' organizations. She suffered from dementia in the last few years, but still retained enough reality to display her famous smile, cognition and love. Many tears will be shed for this wonderful lady by her family as she gave strength, love and forgiveness to all. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2009, in Charbonneau Golf Club, Wilsonville. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center - Tualatin
