Obituary of Steven Franklin Kellas

5/29/50 – 8/22/10 A Celebration of life for Damascus resident Steven Franklin Kellas will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, September 4 at Gresham Memorial Chapel 257 SE Roberts Ave. Private inurnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery. Steven, age 60, passed away Aug. 22, 2010 in Portland after a courageous battle against cancer. He was born May 29, 1950 in Corvallis, Oregon the son of Alan and Gloria Kellas. At a young age the family moved to Portland, then on to Pendleton where he was raised and educated. Following graduation from Pendleton High School in 1968 Steven enlisted in the Navy, serving 8 years. He was honorably discharged in 1978. Steven moved to Portland in 1981 where he worked as a Telecommunications Manager for US West, Electric Lightwave, Integra and New Edge Network. On June 15, 2002 he married Lynn Mercer in Vancouver, Washington. They moved to Damascus in 2009, where Steven loved working on their property. As hobbies Steven enjoyed running, biking and paddling dragon boats. He is survived by his wife, Lynn Kellas of Damascus; son, Jason Kellas of Banks, OR.; 3 daughters, Trista Seastone of Hillsboro, OR, Lori Briece and Lyndi Califf both of Damascus; parents, Alan and Gloria Kellas of Pendleton, OR.; 3 brothers, Greg Kellas and Chris Kellas both of Pendleton, Troy Kellas of Phoenix, AZ.; and 9 grandchildren. Arrangements were by Crown Memorial Center – Portland.
