Obituary of Bertie Lillian Haas
Bertie Lillian Haas was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Josephine and Ralph Powers on July 5, 1936. She married James David Schelenbaum and had her first daughter, Cheryl.She subsequently married James Haas and had three more children: Cindy, Cathy, and Jim who grew up in Eagle Point, Oregon.Her life had many turns.At one point or another she lived in Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon and primarily worked in housekeeping which always made for some good stories. She met her soulmate, Gene, and they spent their time driving across the country in his semi-truck. When they were not on the road, they would spend time with family and friends.
Bertie was a woman who taught us all what unconditional love was, how to be a tough cookie, that ladies can take care of themselves, how to laugh and have fun, and to live life on your own terms. She was a one of a kind woman and our lives won’t be the same without her.She went to heaven December 19, 2019, wrapped in love from her family.
Bertie is survived by her daughters Cheryl, Cindy, and Cathy and her son Jim; her grandchildren Candice, Melina, Christine, Kirstin, Trevor, Jimmy, and Jeffrey; her great-grandchildren Lucas, Jacob, Alo, Dominic, Brody, Camden, TJ, Mallory, and others; her sister-in-law Katie, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her loved ones who pre-deceased her are soulmate, Gene; parents, Josephine and Ralph; sister, Barbara June and her husband, Harvey; brother Bud; and dogs Foxy and Muffin.
