Obituary of Betty Mae Hartgrove Peterson

Born: June 12, 1932, Betty Mae Lee, in Willow City, ND Parents: Lewis Lee and Margaret Florence Wright, both preceded her in death Brothers: Vivian Lee and Jay Lee, both preceded her in death Sister: Kay Lee, preceded her in death. Sister-in-law: Betty Lee, Kirkland WA Married: Arlen H. Hartgrove, March 4,1951 in Minot, ND, he preceded her in death July 8, 1995 Married: Francis Y.(Pete) Peterson, July 12, 1999, he preceded her in death July 8, 2008 Betty moved to Spokane Washington with her husband and two children in 1955 and was a housewife. She had two more children. She sold Avon while raising her four children. When they were all in school she began working at the Spokane Chronicle until the family moved to Walla Walla, WA in 1969. Betty then for the school district until moving to Portland, Oregon in 1973. She started working for the federal government and did so for 20 years working in several different departments. Betty retired in 1994 at which time she was able to enjoy the fun things more. Betty loved to bowl. She did so for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Elks Lodge in Milwaukie, OR and volunteered numerous hours there over many years. Betty also attended many events at the VFW where she socialized with her many friends. She spent many summers with her family and neighbors at Spirit Lake, ID where so much fun was had. Betty was very active in the PTA while her children were in school. She supported her daughters through 'Jobs Daughters' organization and volunteered many hours there as well for each. Betty loved her children & was always there when they needed her. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the light of her life.
