Obituary of Dell Keith Wiley
Dell Keith Wiley of Portland, Oregon passed away on November 19 at the age of 85. Dell is survived by children Roberta, Rodney, Robin, Rita, and Russell, his brother Randy, as well as 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. Dell is predeceased by his wife Norma, daughter Rebecca, his siblings Elvin, Ivan, Evan, and Joanne and his parents Leonard and Thelma.
Dell was born to parents Leonard and Thelma Wiley on May 12, 1934 in Gordon, Nebraska. He married Norma Kirk on December 24, 1953 and together they raised six children.
Over Christmas break of 1968 Dell, Norma and their children moved from Valentine, Nebraska to Portland, Oregon because of work opportunities.In addition to being a father and becoming an adored grandfather, Dell was a jack of all trades-there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. He worked in ranching, auto wrecking, ran a gas station, and spent many years working in metal fabrication.
Before moving to Oregon, Dell enjoyed playing in a county western band and ranching. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with family. Many family memories involve Dell making homemade ice cream and different types of popcorn during family gatherings. Everyone will remember Dell’s sense of humor, willingness to help others, unparalleled work ethic, and the love he had for him family.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Dell on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 3:00pm at the Best Western in St.Helens. The address is 585 S Columbia River Hwy, St Helens, OR 97051. All are welcome.
