Obituary of Craig Jeffrey Murphy

Craig “Murph” Jeffrey Murphy (62) was born on September 9th, 1957 in Oregon City, Oregon to the late Vincent & Doris Murphy. Murph passed away at his home, surrounded by family in Portland, Oregon on November 1st, 2019 after a battle with cancer. Murph is survived by his loving wife Melody, his siblings Darrell Murphy & Colleen Sroka; his daughter Tera Asboe; his son Scott Murphy; his grandchildren; Robert, Madison, Ryker, Napoleon, Denice, Angelina, Jeremiah, Uriah, Ryann, Zach & Isaiah; and his step-children Brian, Sherrie and Shayla. Murph graduated from John Marshall High School in 1975 as well as the National School of Broadcasting in 1990. He spent his childhood years playing baseball & bowling. He continued his love of bowling well into his adult life, and proceeded to bowl a perfect “300” game, three times. Nothing was more important to Murph, than his family. He coached his children’s Baseball, Softball & Basketball teams for many years. He frequently attended his grandchildren’s sporting events, never missed a family member’s birthday and was always looking for a reason to host a BBQ for the entire family. He enjoyed spending his evenings listening to local music. Murph made many lifelong friends with the people he met along the way. He loved the beach as a child, but loved it even more as an adult. He made many trips to the beach with Melody, his family and his friends. If he wasn’t on the beach enjoying the peace and quiet, he was watching a live band or shopping for a new hat. He loved the beach so much, that he requested that a part of him be left there. That wish will come true for him. So, whenever you are at the beach, know that a part of him is with you, enjoying the same things in life that you are. Murph was not known for unspoken words; he never said goodbye without saying “I love you”. We all love and miss you, Murph. A Celebration of Life for Murph will be on Saturday, November 23rd at 1:00pm, at Clackamas Park Friend’s Church 8120 SE Thiessen Rd Oak Grove OR 97267. “When tomorrow starts without me, don’t think were far apart. For every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart.”
