Obituary of Pauline Adragna
Pauline Adragna passed away peacefully on August 30, 2019 at the age of 96 in Tigard, Oregon. Pauline was born on October 6, 1922 in New York City, and was raised in “Little Italy” Greenwich Village in NYC. Her parents, Cesare and Rose Iozzi, immigrated to the United States from Italy. As a teenager, Pauline had to leave high school to work in a sewing factory to help make ends meet for her family, which included two younger brothers, John and Albert, whom she loved dearly. Later she returned to night school to earn her high school diploma. She married and had a daughter, Diana. After her divorce Pauline worked two jobs, for Standard and Poor’s as a telephone operator, and for the 8th St. Playhouse movie theater as an usher. After she remarried Frank Adragna, Pauline moved to Florida where she lived for 24 years. She took pride in keeping a lovely home, cooking, and entertaining. She and her husband Frank enjoyed entertaining, traveling to historic sites in Florida, going to museums and theater performances, and visiting family. Pauline moved to Oregon in 2001 to be closer to her daughter and family. She lived independently for many years, and enjoyed movies, reading, shopping, theater, and being with her family. Her inner strength, determination, resourcefulness, perseverance, and faith guided her through hard times and good times. In her long life, Pauline did everything with care and love. Her family was most important and very dear to her. She was a thoughtful, loving person and a devout Catholic.
She is survived by her daughter Diana LoVerso and husband Victor Torres, grandson Antonio Torres, sisters-in-law Dede Iozzi and Jeanne Iozzi, nieces Nicole Iozzi, Danielle Tirendi, Kathye Catalano, Jeannie Johnson, Elayne Morris, and nephew Michael Iozzi. She is pre-deceased by her parents Cesare and Rose Iozzi, her husband Frank Adragna, and her brothers John Iozzi and Albert Iozzi.
