For many years I would seek Joan out at Kohl’s. I would walk around and find her check out just so that I could talk to her. I loved talking to her. Her love for Jesus permeated every conversation I had with her. There are so many in my life that God has blessed me with the opportunity of knowing them here on this earth. Joan is one of these people.

Joan was a special lady and a dear sister. And I know that she is in the arms of Jesus now.

I think I was 10 when I found out that Joan wasn’t my real aunt (she was always part of our family). I remember being very sad because I loved her and always felt loved by her. She was truly a gift from God to so many! Eric and Lynn, I love you guys and please know you are all in my prayers!

Joan was very instrumental in my life as she taught me many things. I’m not there yet on this one, but how to let offenses go, how important it is to be kind, how to parallel park and how to take care of your home and garden. Joan made lots of things seem easy. She had a no-nonsense approach to just about everything. I am a better person for having known her.

We were very Blessed to have Joan in our lives. She was a very kind person who always made us feel welcome. She remembered so many things going on in our lives and always asked about our kids. We will miss her greatly.

It has been over 20 years since I last saw Joan but I have never forgotten her joyful spirit and huge heart. She ALWAYS had a smile on her face that was so genuine and pure. Never once did I ever sense one ounce of judgement from her. The example of how she loved people seems to me the ideal model of how Jesus loves people. From the heart, reflecting in His eyes His love for their souls. Joan did that. Her eyes were the window into her sweet soul and that was ‘caught’ by those around her. The joy of the Lord, was her strength!
