Obituary of Derek Lamon Sparkman
Derek Lamon Sparkman, 56, of Portland, Oregon was born on December 14th, 1962 and called home on August 23rd, 2019.
Derek was a veteran in the United States Navy as well as a musician and a talented drummer. His love of music filled his life and also touched the lives of many of those around him.A culinary school graduate, Derek shared a similar passion and exemplary skill for creating fine cuisine.
Derek resided in San Diego, California for many years before relocating to Portland, Oregon. Derek loved the beach and he could often be found walking his dog alongside the waterfront.
Derek is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Lee Cook, and is survived by his mother Bennie Ruth Cook, sisters Daphne, Karen, Crystal, Melanie, Leah & scores of extended family across the country.
Derek was a son, a brother, a beloved uncle and an amazing friend. He had a heart of gold, loved his family and always put the needs of others before himself.He will be missed greatly by all whom loved him.
