Obituary of Dan Burton Dollar

Dan Dollar was born on December 29, 1949, passed away peacefully at his home in West Linn surrounded by family on September 4, 2019. Dan was born in Oregon City, Oregon. His parents were Clem Dollar Jr. and Vivian Earnst Dollar. Dan attended WLHS Class of ‘68 and Served in the US Navy from 1968-1972. Dan’s early working years included working for Kenny Larson Oil Company, running the gas station at Wankers Corner in the 70’s followed by owning his own body shop and then working for Oregon Department of Transportation while also building houses and finally retiring from Washington Department of Transportation in 2016. Dan was often referred to as a MacGyver of all things. He enjoyed building things, fixing things, working on cars and tinkering in his shop. He started playing concert Bass in 3rd grade and continued playing Bass and vocals as an adult in various bands with his friends. Dan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandy Michael Dollar; his Son Jon Dollar (45) his daughter Lori Dollar (42) and 3 grandchildren, Madison Dollar (18) Dawson Hart (13) and Mackenzie Hart (11). He was preceded in death by his parents Clem in 1996 and Vivian in 1971. A celebration of life will be held at Willamette Park on October 13 at 1 PM, potluck style. In Lieu of flowers, please consider donating toward a memorial bench that will be placed at Willamette park or the pathway along the river.
