Obituary of Janice M. Berecek
Janice M. Berecek, daughter of Ivan J. and Huldah H. (Watson) Leinbach, was born March 14, 1936, in Raritan, Illinois, and died surrounded by family on August 31, 2019, at Marquis Centennial in Portland Oregon, where she was a resident for many years. She lived to be 83 years, 5 months, and 17 days.
Janice graduated from Brookfield High School in Brookfield, Ohio, Class of 1954.On March 6, 1954, Janice married Thomas Berecek of Vienna, Ohio. Janice and Tom parted ways after 17 years of marriage and having six children together. Janice strove to be a good homemaker and was a talented cook and seamstress.
She leaves behind five children, namely, Thomas (Tom) L. Berecek, Katherine (Kathi) M. Clay and her husband Francis (Frank), Robert (Bob) B. Berecek, Janice (Jani) R. Karr, and Lorraine (Lori) D. Morton. Her second born son, Lawrence (Larry) D. Berecek, preceded her in death. It is with love and gratitude that we also acknowledge the dedication of her daughter-in-law, Katheryn (Davies) Berecek, who remained in the vicinity and provided and managed much of our mother’s care. Janice also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family also wishes to thank all the dedicated staff and care providers at Marquis Centennial for their efforts in providing years of loving care and attention towards our mother. Janice was endeared to many and will be greatly missed.
A graveside committal of the ashes will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 4, 2019, at Zion Memorial Park Cemetery, 2010 Township Road, Canby, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (www.nami.org), or a charity of choice.
