Obituary of Jon Curtis Gilbert
Jon Curtis Gilbert.
Born May 27th 1958-Passed September 2nd 2019.
Jon was born in Hermiston, Oregon where he was raised by Barbara and Bill Gilbert. He was a brother to three siblings; Sherry, Cole and Bradley. Jon and his siblings were raised in the neighboring town Stanfield on a turkey farm. He worked tending farms and working in the dust until he was 21 and moved to the coast where he tended his fathers bar. Jon appreciated the lifestyle of the country but once he tasted the city, he was intrigued and moved closer to a metropolis where he explored the world of sales and managing car stores. He retired as a Sales Manager at Wentworth Chevrolet and lived the last 20 years in Gladstone, Oregon.
Survivors include Peggy Petersen, his partner and wife of 21 years, his daughter Kara Gilbert, son Tucker Smith, step son Jonathan Petersen, step son Mike Rouse, sister Sheryl Gilbert, brother Cole Gilbert, brother Bradley Gilbert, mother Barbara Gilbert, his Aunt Anibelle, along with many cousins, and family that were friends and friends that were family.
Jon was a powerhouse of a human and you could feel his energy as he walked in a room and created a nickname for you be it a friend or stranger, sold you a car, loved you at home and dance in the living room, smirked at your newborn with total love and admiration for little people, left the dinner table before it was his time to go, and looked right at you with those baby blue eyes and made you feel like a million bucks. He loved to eat well, play golf, was an incredible pool player, dog dad to Dudley and spend quality time with friends new and old- and was the first person to buy a round for the local pub!
We look forward to celebrating his life and telling stories and being together in his name, September 15th, 12-5pm at Stone Creek Golf Course : 14603 S Stoneridge Dr, Oregon City, OR 97045. POTLUCK- so please bring a side dish to accompany bbq from Busters.
