Obituary of Liselotte Patricia Bossuyt

Liselotte Patricia (Lee/Lilo) Bossuyt (née Barber) died peacefully in Brookdale Memory Care on August 20th in Troutdale, Oregon at the age of 69 due to the complications of Dementia. Lee is survived by her husband, Tom; children Heather and Nora; siblings Ingrid, Dagmar, Marilyn, Mike, Theresa, Kathy, Bill and Julia; grandchildren Zack, Jacob, Tommy, Emma, Philip and Sunny ; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by both of her parents and grandparents, and many aunts and uncles. Lee was born at Madigan hospital in Tacoma, Washington on February 11, 1950 to Liselotte (nee Hartmann) and John Merrill Barber Jr. She spent her early years in Tacoma with her large family enjoying many camping and fishing experiences on the Olympic Peninsula. The family moved to Oregon during her teens and she graduated from St. Mary of the Valley Academy in Beaverton. In High school she was very active socially and especially loved the drama club. She met her first husband, Steven Gulde, in Portland and together they had two children and Lee spent the next years as a busy and dedicated stay at home mom. That marriage ended and Lee began working in the home decorating industry where she met the love of her life. Tom and Lee married and spent many happy years together in Gresham and then on their acreage in Eagle Creek, Oregon. There Lee took up gardening and had the most beautiful array of plants and flowers that any nursery would have been jealous of. She knew every name and would delight in showing visitors around the garden even when her illness had advanced to a noticeable level. Her other passions were hiking and tending to her many pets, especially her beloved Siberian Husky, Juno, who became her companion animal as dementia took its toll on her. Lee will be remembered as a beautiful and vivacious wife, mother, sibling and friend that had an infectious laugh that was impossible to resist. She was also stubborn, outspoken and succeeded in writing her own story in this life. She will be greatly missed. Her memorial is scheduled at St. Rita Church in Portland, Oregon from noon to 3pm on Sunday; September 1, 2019. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lee’s life. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of Brookdale Memory Care in Troutdale for their care and dedication to Lee during her stay at their facility.
