Obituary of Marvene Naldi Lukas
Marvene Naldi Lukas, age 81 of Dayton, OR passed away surrounded by her family on August 10, 2019 in Salem Hospital Salem, OR. She was born January 17, 1938 in Portland, OR the daughter of Andrew Chilton Redifer and Ada Mae Hartman Redifer. She lived with her parents and extended family in North Coquille and Curtain, OR where she attended both Curtain Grade School and Drain High School.
After graduation she moved to Portland, followed b y Los Angeles, California, and back to Portland where she met and married Lester V. Lukas, Jr. They were married and shared a life together for over 50 years. They shared a love of buying and renovating investment homes. In addition, they had a daughter, Leslie, in 1974 before moving to Scappoose, OR. In the late 1980’s Marvene and her husband bought a farm in rural Dayton, OR where she left the insurance industry to become a certified tax preparer, working for her longtime friend Shirley Warner at Warner Tax Service. Marvene retired from tax preparation to focus on her retirement and their properties, which she enjoyed managing. Marvene was a member of The Daughters of The American Revolution. She was an avid reader, had a passion for travel, flowers, an tiques, and was a lifelong animal lover. She was known for finding, helping and making a home for many animals in need.
Later in life she focused her animal advocacy on donating to some of her favorite animal charities. Her compassion for animals was admired by all who knew her and will be missed. Marvene is survived by her husband Lester V. Lukas, Jr. and her daughter Leslie LukasRecio. She is fondly remembered by several extended family members as well as friends who cared for her deeply.
