Obituary of Shirley Helen Kilcup

Shirley Helen Kilcup Shirley Helen Kilcup, age 87 of Portland,Or passed away Wednesday August 14, 2019. She was born to the late Clarence M Christensen and Helen R Shjandemaar on May 26, 1932. Shirley graduated from Jefferson High school and went on to nursing school, and then became an x-ray technologist. Later Shirley worked for Tektronix and Portland Mailing before retiring. Shirley loved to crochet, making blankets, hats, and throws. Many family members and friends have received them as gifts over the years. She also sold hats and blankets at baby shops and holiday bazaars. Shirley donated many hats that were distributed to the homeless of Portland, OR. Shirley loved to read, watch Time Team and the news, go out to eat clam chowder, and Sunday drives. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Left to honor Shirley and remember her love are her two children: Julie Shjandemaar, and Randy Kilcup. Granddaughter Tiffany Rohlfs Baker, Grandson's Dylan Baker, Jared Kilcup, and Taran Kilcup. Great Granddaughter Lilly Baker Merris, and Great Grandson Jayden Tatro.Brother Wally Christensen, nieces Cassie Edwards, Jodie Stewart, RaeAnn Vandahey, nephew Danny Christensen, and many great nieces and nephews. Sassy, her beloved dog who was a joy to her life and kept vigil by her side. Shirley's wishes were to not have a funeral or memorial, but to have a party instead. A Celebration of Life party is currently being planned. Details will be posted on Julie and Randy's Facebook pages when complete. Shirley also requested her ashes be scattered at her favorite campsite in Klickitat, Wa.
