Obituary of Kevin Hoewa'a Kaneta

Born October 11, 1956, Honolulu, Hawaii Died June 13, 2019, Tigard, Oregon Kevin Hoewa’a Kaneta was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Elmer Raymond Kaneta and Geraldine Anna (Haffner) Kaneta. He earned an Associate’s degree in Information Technology from Portland Community College, was married to Sharon Ravina Kaneta, and had one son, Andrew. Kevin worked as an automotive service writer for many years at Pacific Nissan. After getting his degree at the age of 40, he became the Information Technology Administrator, aka “The Computer Guy”, for Cedar Mill Community Library. Kevin was a master at trouble shooting - he loved puzzling out solutions to problems and willingly shared his expertise with friends and family. Kevin grew up in Kailua on Oahu, and attended Kailua Elementary, Intermediate and High School. Some of his favorite things to do were sailing, hiking, dirt bike riding, hanging out at the beach and skydiving. After moving to Oregon with his family, life was filled with new friends and experiences, including long scenic road trips and camping. Throughout his lifetime, Kevin displayed a deep passion for music. He loved to sing and played lead guitar in the local Portland classic rock band, “The Rockhounds”. He was a lifelong student of science and history, with an endless curiosity about the universe. He appreciated the complexity and beauty of this earth, from the giant redwoods, to the milky way, to the mountains and oceans. Kevin loved his family and friends.He is survived by his wife, Sharon, his son, Andrew, and his brothers Brian and Robin, and will be truly missed.
