Obituary of Arlene Carole Meuchel
Arlene C. (Asp) Meuchel, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt & friend peacefully passed away on Monday June 24th of natural causes. She was surrounded by her children, family & friends.
Arlene was born on June 14, 1939 to Arthur & Bessie (Shipp) Asp— the first of four girls -- in Kalispell, Montana.
Arlene grew up & was educated in Twin Bridges then moved to Billings, Montana in her late teens.
In her early 20’s, Arlene moved out west to Seattle, Washington where she met and married her husband, Jerry Meuchel. In 1973 they moved to Portland, Oregon to plant roots and raise their 3 children.
Arlene was passionate about children and was a special education teacher for many years. Later in life she was a successful National Pageant Director for both Oregon and Montana National Teenager pageants. Arlene want’s to be remembered for her love of children and animals.
One could usually find Arlene perusing cookbook’s for outstanding recipes, which her family benefited from. From her homemade chicken dumplings and scratch gravies to her Mama’s cinnamon rolls, Arlene could make anything taste great.
No matter how things were in her life, Arlene was always willing to offer a helping hand to others. She was generous with her time and always tried to pay it forward. Growing up, she and her sisters were so appreciative of the community and people who helped them and their mom when things were tough. This generosity was instilled in them & they’ve tried to do the same throughout their lives. Even when they have had next to nothing they are always willing to give to others.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry Meuchel, Sister Rustee Blaser and Parent-in-laws Steve & Mary Meuchel.
Arlene was a fun, generous kind soul that gave selflessly and she will be remembered and deeply missed by those left to cherish her memory . Her daughter, Pam Leeper of Portland, Oregon. Son's & daughter-in-law's Brad & Lynn Meuchel of Milwaukie, Oregon. Steve & Gayle Meuchel of Chatsworth, California and her grandchildren Kassidy Meuchel of Chatsworth, California and Taylor Duty of Portland, Oregon. Sisters & brother-in laws, Sharon & Harry Coulter from San Jose California and Georgia & Gary Shrader of San Jose California. Arlene was loved & known as "Auntie Ar" by her nieces, nephews and their families.
Arlene is, and will be forever, dearly loved and missed. A graveside celebration of life will be held at a future date in Twin Bridges, Montana.
