Obituary of Kenneth Edward Larvik
Kenneth Edward Larvik, 72 of Tigard, Oregon, went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2019.
Ken was born June 7, 1946 in Portland, Oregon to Carl and Sylvia (Kaster) Larvik. The family lived in St. Johns until 1950 when they moved to Cornelius, Oregon. Ken graduated from Forest Grove High School in 1964 and Portland State College in 1968. Immediately after graduating from college, Ken began working for Hyster Company, retiring in 2011 after 43 years of service.
Ken met his wife Nyoka “Willie” Pruitt while working at Hyster, and they married in September 1970. Daughter Erica and son Christopher completed the family.
Ken loved being outdoors and was a 50-year member of the Mazamas, summiting several peaks including Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Hood. He was also a long-time member of Tigard Christian Church, serving in several capacities over the years.
Ken was a competitive tractor puller, driving a 1947 Massey-Harris Model 55 tractor named “Mighty Massey”, which he built himself. He went on to build a smaller tractor for his grandson and was building a tractor for his granddaughters at the time of his death. He also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson and would make an annual trip to Eastern Oregon with his son, taking a different route every year.
Ken is survived by his wife Willie of Tigard, daughter Erica Larvik Bevilacqua (Charles) of West Linn, son Christopher Larvik of Salem; his favorite grandson and granddaughters: Kyle Larvik, Nora and Abbie Bevilacqua; his brother Ronald Larvik of La Grande.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 1 PM at Tigard Christian Church, 13405 S.W. Hall Boulevard, Tigard, OR 97223. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Ken to Tigard Christian Church or Mazama’s, 527 SE 43rd Ave, Portland, OR97215.
