Obituary of Jimmie Lee McGill

Jimmie was born in Winnfield, Louisiana to James and Carolyn Scott. At the age of 3, the family moved to Sacramento, California where Jimmie later attended school there through her sophomore year. The family then moved to Milwaukie, Oregon where she graduated from Milwaukie High in 1957. She attended Multnomah Jr. College and received an AA degree in 1959. She attended Lewis and Clark College the following year. Jimmie began working for CPA's the following year. On August 26, 1961 she married Don McGill Jr. She later worked as a bookkeeper of Olson Bros. in Milwaukie. She passed away at home with family at her side after suffering a broken hip with complications. She was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, Barry. She is survived by her husband, don of Oregon City; daughter Kristan Thorne and her husband Mike, both of Tigard; brother Rick of Palm Springs; sister in-law Pamela VanLaeken of Milwaukie; brother in-laws Robert and Patrick McGill both of Portland; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a beloved wife, mother and sister and will remain in our hearts forever. She was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles and an ardent music fan with a great recollection and passion for historical events and personalities. She and Don spent many years traveling to Hawaii and throughout the U.S. vacationing and taking RV trips. At her request there will be no memorial service.
