Obituary of Sean Patrick Nelson

Sean Patrick Nelson, 45, passed away March 28, 2010 at his home in Portland, Oregon. Sean grew up in Forest Grove, Oregon, graduating from Forest Grove High School in 1982. He also graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. Most of his adult life was spent as a free-lance writer for local community papers. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge in Forest Grove, OR, a proud member of Demolay through high school and a past Master Councilor in 1980, a past Demolay State of Oregon Officer, and he currently held the office of Junior Steward at the Holbrook Masonic Lodge in Forest Grove. This kind and gentle soul was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia McCloskey Nelson and father, Wallace Wayne Nelson. He is survived by his sister, Kathi Nelson of Costa Mesa, CA; sister Kelly Nelson of San Francisco, CA; and brother Mike Nelson of Vancouver, WA. His aunts and uncles include Marlin and Laurel Nelson of Wilsonville, OR; Colleen and Bob Olson of San Ramon, CA; and many cousins. A private family gathering is planned. His family would like to thank the current Holbrook Masonic Lodge officers and members, plus his many Advisory Dads for their kindness and leadership through the years. Sean greatly admired and was helped by these men during his life, but his Advisory Dad, Roland Gleason, was his most cherished mentor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory to the Holbrook Masonic Lodge #30, 2019 Main Street, Forest Grove, OR 97116. Arrangements were entrusted to Crown Memorial Center in Portland.
