Obituary of Clayton Griffith Cate
May 22, 1921 – February 25, 2010 Clayton Griffith Cate, 88, passed away on February 25, 2010 in Woodburn, Oregon. Clayton was born in Hood River, Oregon on May 22, 1921 to William and Fanny Cate. He grew up in Hood River and proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. Clayton and Mary Jane moved to Woodburn in 1972. He married Mary Jane Hille on November 27, 1946 and had 3 children. Clayton worked as a welder and brakeman for the railroad and worked on his farm when he got home. He built 3 houses in which he and his family lived in and one for his mother. He enjoyed building, farming, gardening, his farm animals and donated most of his crops to the food bank each year. Clayton and Mary Jane were members of the Hoodview Church of God in Woodburn. Clayton is survived by his daughters, Linda Parks of Bothell, Washington and Gloria Jewell of Woodinville, Washington; son, Ronald Cate of Switzerland; four grandchildren; Douglas, Michele, Jeffrey, and Casey, and six great grand-children; Raynette, Autumn, Samantha, Joseph, Jonathan, and Tora.
