Obituary of Darrel F. Valentine
Darrel was born and raised in Salem, Oregon. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 1/28/54 and became a Drill Instructor at MCRD. Darrel met and married Elizabeth “Cathy” Valentine in San Diego. Darrel worked for 40+ years at River Bend Sand & Gravel, Ole’s Gun Shop and Walling Sand & Gravel. Darrel loved animals, specifically his black labs: Velvet, Lady and Nikki. Darrel loved to walk his dogs and during this time met many wonderful friends. Darrel is preceded in death by his parents, wife Cathy and black lab Deacon. He is survived by son Mark (Shelley) of Keizer and daughters Marcy of Newport and Michelle of Eugene, OR. Grandchildren: Alyssa and Garrett Kaess, Nick Viggiano, Ashley Valentine, Anthony Elmore, Cassandra Elmore, Ramona Valentine, 3 sisters Arlene Stevenson, Carol Miller and Gayle Whedon, nieces, nephews and many friends.
