Obituary of Leslie Gordon Bell

Leslie Gordon Bell was  born in Seattle, Washington as the third child to Arthur Gordon Bell and Hazel Violet Bell.  He was raised in Seattle and Concrete, Washington completing high school in Concrete and then enlisting in the Navy.  He enjoyed his service life on an aircraft carrier during the Korean War.  He worked in various power stations and eventually operated and controlled the automated dam at Cedar Falls, Washington from which he retired.  He was very proud of his accomplishments with Seattle City Light.

His love of music began early in his life.  His family all participated in a band call “The Bells”.  Their music enriched many people’s lives and his love of the piano and guitar never faded.  He continued entertaining others with his musical talent even as late as a month before his passing. 

He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Helen Thompson Bell, step sons Mark Thompson and partner Greg Bristow, Tracy Thompson and his two biological children Mike and Laura Bell along with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He resided in Portland, Oregon for the past twenty two years and will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery located in Southeast Portland on Mt. Scott.

He will be remembered as a U.S. serviceman, husband, musician, wood worker and gentleman.
