Obituary of Monique Godsil Smith
Monique Godsil Smith was laid to rest on January 6, 2023, in Vancouver, Washington. Monique ("Mo") passed into eternal life at her home in West Linn, Oregon, on Saturday, December 10, 2022.
Monique was a curious, determined, and happy child. Monique’s family moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1971, where she attended St. John Vianney School in Spokane. She grew up enjoying visits to her dad’s job sites and vacationing with her family in Hells Canyon along the Snake River.
She attended Our Lady of the Lake, La Salle High School, Clackamas Community College, and Boise State University. She was an accomplished dancer who performed in the Nutcracker ballet for several years in Portland. Monique held several secretary or clerk positions in local businesses before dedicating her time to taking care of her mother.
She is remembered for her warmth and kindness, beautiful smile, love of animals and children, and green thumb. She was excited about becoming “MoMa” to her grandchildren. Monique is survived by her mother, Carol; father, Paul (Micki); daughter, Julia (Ruben); son, Daschel; brother, Galen (Bobbi); and grandchildren, Gabriel, Raphael, and Daniel.
