Obituary of Sherry Yvonne Pilcher

        Sherry Y. Pilcher

June 26, 1959 – December 18, 2022

 

Sherry Y. Pilcher, 63, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 18th, 2022. She passed away peacefully in her sleep. She lived in Salem, Oregon with her mother. Her life began on June 26, 1959 in Astoria, Oregon. She was born at Saint Mary hospital, to her parents Clarence L. Harrell and Barbara D. Harrell. She was one of 7 children. She grew up in Silverton, Oregon and lived on a farm with her parents and siblings. As a child, she loved riding horses and showed her horse at the State Fair. She played basketball in high school.

Sherry graduated from Silverton High school in Silverton, Oregon. She attended Portland Community College to further her education.

She joined the Army National Guard in March 1979 and was honorably discharged in March of 1985. She completed her Basic Law enforcement training and was a patrolman for the Military Police during her service. She volunteered at Guide Dogs for the Blind, Therapy Dogs and Dove Lewis Animal Hospital in her spare time.

Sherry worked for ADP as an inventory control clerk doing detail data entry and processing and also worked as a forklift driver. In the past 20 years, she worked for the City of Portland, Portland Bureau of Transportation in the maintenance department, doing various jobs. She especially loved working at the Rose festival each year. Sherry was a hard worker and was very dedicated to her job.

Sherry was an avid reader and enjoyed going to Powell’s Book Store to find unique books for her collection. She loved reading autobiographies, heartfelt novels, and animal books. She had a love for music of all genres and went to many concerts with her friends. Sherry had a heart for animals and really loved her dogs and horses. She loved playing softball with her friends. She had a passion to watch older western shows and loved John Wayne.

Sherry enjoyed gardening and working to beautify her yard. She loved nature and enjoyed hiking and camping in her free time. Sherry was passionate about working out in the gym and wanted to become a personal trainer. Every year she looked forward to shopping with her niece and nephew for school clothes and would make a day of it with them.

She is proceeded in death by: Her father Clarence L. Harrell, her brothers Roy E. Harrell, Steven T. Harrell, Baxter L. Harrell (Rocky).  

She is survived by: Her mother Barbara D. Harrell of Salem, Oregon, brothers Brent S. Harrell and his wife Christy Harrell of Aumsville, Oregon, Rick L. Harrell of Salem, Oregon, her sister Shelley S. (Harrell) Mossman and her husband Scott E. Mossman of Salem, Oregon. She has several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Sherry was an amazing daughter, sister, aunt and friend, and she will be forever in our hearts and never forgotten.

Her family will gather with friends on Friday January 13th, 2023 at 2:00pm at Creekside Church, at 1305 Neahkahnie St SE Salem, OR 97306.

Burial will be on Saturday January 14th, 2023 at Green Mountain Cemetery in Silverton Oregon.
