Obituary of Betty A Hopkins

On November 20, 2022, Betty Hopkins went peacefully to be home with the Lord.

She was a beloved mother of five children: Dave, Kent, Pam, Clay and Beth by her first husband Melvin, a school administrator. She is also survived by many grand children and great grand children.

She lived a full life in her 93 years, being born in Michigan to Dutch descendants Peter and Betty and was the middle of 5 children. She became a registered nurse in 1950, and served others for over 40 years in various medical aspects like surgery, emergency, acute and geriatric care.

After a time of widowhood, she was blessed to meet another wonderful man, Preston Hopkins Sr and spent over 15 years with him in Michigan until his death. Then she moved to Oregon to be close to a couple of her children.

She was a pleasant, generous, loving and caring mother.  She had a deeply held relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. She instilled that same faith in all her children and grandchildren both through her words and the example of her life. She enjoyed singing, nature and reading.

She was described by others as having a life well lived, as evidenced by her easy laughter and beautiful smile. She was a hard worker and fought hard to keep most of her independence until her last few months. Our hope and prayer is that her legacy will be evident and continued by others that she affected.

Betty will be buried with her first husband Mel in Bakersfield CA, and the family will hold a private memorial at a later date.

If you wish to express further sympathy, please consider making a donation to Thru the Bible ministry of the late Dr. J. Vernon McGee, one of her favorite charities.
